About:
The Custom Reports Bundle is a collection of custom html reports and dashboards for PowerSchool. The content in this bundle has been contributed by several members of the PowerSchool customization community. The bundle also includes the Custom SQL Reports customization created by Dean Dahlvang.

Features:
The 3.x release of the Custom Reports Bundle has many great new features.

  • New PS7 compatible layout on all reports
  • Report data is retrieved with AJAX. No more page refreshes to get results.
  • Most reports are now printable and sortable
  • Some reports are exportable to PDF and CSV
  • Performance improvements to underlying report queries.
  • Improved UI for report parameters

Known Issues:
Several reports are still undergoing a transition to the new layout. As a result some are not working.
Broken Reports

  • Schedule Course Demographics (/admin/reports/schedule/coursedemographics.html)
  • Sections with no room Assigned(/admin/reports/schedule/SectionnoRoom.html)
  • NY State Reports

Install Instructions - Custom Page Management:

To upload an entire zip you’ll have to be on PowerSchool 7. Then the steps are as follows:

Switch to District Office.
Use one of the 2 methods below to get to the import/export screen. I would click the export button on the screen listed below to make a backup of your current customizations so you have a backup copy.
A. PS Administrator->Custom Pages->Import/Export
B. District->Localization Administration->Import/Export Customizations
Export the current customizations as a backup.
After you have done that, click browse and select the PDS (or other customization) zip and then click import.

NOTE - The following steps will need to be done if using CPM, because of a bug in PowerSchool, to enable all the bundle features.
1. In CPM navigate to \scripts\tabletools\ click Add then Create Folder with the name swf, if it doesn't already exist.
2. Upload copy_cvs_xls_pdf.swf and copy_cvs_xls.swf from the \scripts\tabletools\swf folder from the unzipped download.
3. navigate to \images\css\theme\crm-css\ click Add then Create Folder with the name images, if it doesn't already exist.
4. Upload all the files from the \images\css\theme\crm-css\images folder from the unzipped download.

Install Instructions - Custom Webroot:
Unzip the downloaded file and place the included files in the same folder structure that exists in the zip in your data\custom\webroot folder.

Anyone know why sqlReport's "Last Run Time" value is not being updated any longer?
Thanks Robert

Can this report be edited to allow a selection to "show dropped classes" also? We have several students who drop the AM section and enroll in the PM section, and we want to be able to show all attendance from both the prior AM and current PM attendance.

We installed 7.6 and the Custom SQL Reports are not 'expanding' when clicking on the category. The first one is open when you open the page however once it is closed you cannot open it again. I did get one of the others to open but only once. Most of them however will not open at all.

This doesn't seem to work for us - it used to though. The other dashboards work fine. Does it work for anyone else? It flashed Retrieving data and then promptly returns No data to display.

Did you make certain to enclose the term with ' '? 'M1' works, but M1 displays the No data message.

is there any report of parent approval of Course request ?

For some reason the home.html page doesn't show anything other than the widget button. There are no links to any of the dashboards. I can navigate to those screens by pointing to the url, but the home page doesn't have any of the links/tabs. I do have the most recent version installed. What might be the issue???

we updated to PowerSchool version 7.6.2 last week and I can not longer see the Custom Reports on that Custom reports tab all the page says
Loading Reports...
Custom Report Settings
Links open in new tab: OFF Use Dynamic or Static Report Bundle Menu: Dynamic
I installed the most recent Custom Report Bundle and I got my SQL Reports to pull however I still have the same issue with the Custom REports just saying the above message. ANy help would be very helpful we uses these alot. Thank you

We are using 3.4.3 of the custom reports bundle. We updated to 7.7.0 of PowerSchool last week. Now when we try to run a report against a selection, no data is returned. This did work before the 7.7 update. Specifically we are running the List Class Detail, but I've been told that this is an issue with other reports as well. When we run the report against all students, it works.

Edit: Another local district has reported the same issue.

We are now having the same problem with the current selection not producing data. We are running the latest report bundle and version 7.7.0 of PowerSchool. Seems that this latest update to PowerSchool may have broken the "current selection" features in the bundle.

The secretaries love this report. Is it possible to add the comments to the report. Teachers and Secretaries have been added comments and would love to have them show on the report.

Thanks,
Chris

When running the "Letter Grade Report" from the Custom Reports Bundle, if we select "Current Selection" the report is blank. However, if we choose "All Students" the report will display properly. Is there a fix for this? Our counselors and Resource Staff use this report frequently to quickly determine which student in their group need help. We are running the Custom Reports Bundle 3.4.3 and PowerSchool 7.6.0.

I just encountered this issue myself. If you have access to change the page code, here's what you should do...

The report is located at /admin/reports/grading/gradesreport.html

Change this:

~[if.~[gpv:s]~[gpv:t]~[gpv:h]=cur-99-99]
INNER JOIN ~[temp.table.current.selection:students] temp ON temp.dcid=s.dcid
[/if]

to this:

~[if.~[gpv:se]=cur]
INNER JOIN ~[temp.table.current.selection:students] temp ON temp.dcid=s.dcid
[/if]

Hi Guys,
I uploaded the most recent version 3.4.3 to one of our district's servers. For some reason the reports won't load when in dynamic mode. Any thoughts on why this would happen? When I rescan, I see the load icon for an instant and then nothing. This district has a 3 server array.

Thanks.
Don

Hi,

The sorting by entrydate is not working, I think it must be looking at that field as a text field not a date.
Must be something to do with the UNION?

Any ideas on how to fix it?

After installing the latest custom reports bundle, we cannot run Visual Scheduler or create new SpEd events. I also noticed that the attendance dashboard is not displaying attendance data for the only school in our system that takes attendance each period. I would really appreciate any help you can provide.

I have a Custom SQL report that worked until recently. It may have broken on the 7.7.0 update. I'm not sure. The report gives the user the option of either finding a student by student_number or their last and first names. The student number part still works but it won't do the name UNLESS you pull that student up by their number first. I also noticed in the prompt fields it places your cursor 1 space in. I delete that before typing my response and it still doesn't work. I've changed the code around a little bit but it didn't help. I added to_date to the date but didn't think that would fix it as the code works with a student_number. I switched the name fields to be called first instead of the student_number and that didn't work either.

The same code works in Toad (prompts as literals of course.)

select s.lastfirst, s.grade_level, at.att_date, ac.att_code, at.att_comment
as line
from students s, attendance at, attendance_code ac
where s.id=at.studentid
and at.attendance_codeid=ac.id
and (at.att_date between to_date('%param1%','mm/dd/yyyy') and to_date('%param2%','mm/dd/yyyy')
and at.schoolid=~(curschoolid)
and at.att_mode_code='ATT_ModeDaily'
and((s.last_name='%param4%' AND s.first_name='%param5%')or s.student_number='%param3%')
order by at.att_date, s.lastfirst

The debug seems to display all prompts correctly. Thank you. Judi

In our district we have some very inventive students. They have figured out how to "change" a grade while logged in using Google Chrome. If they right click on a grade from the Grades and Attendance screen and then click on Inspect Element a new portion opens at the bottom of the screen. As they hover over the html code at the bottom of the screen a highlighted box will appear on the upper portion of the screen. Once they get the box to highlight the grade they want to "change" they can drop down the arrow in the coding. Then they drop down the arrow under the href="scores.html. They can then see the grade and percentage and change it. Once the change is made they print off the screen and hand it to mom and dad. When they leave the screen or log out the grade reverts back to the correct grade, but mom and dad are none the wiser. This seems to only work in Google Chrome. I have not tested in Firefox because our district does not support it. Just thought I would bring it to the groups attention.

That's possible with the right know how from pretty much any browser. They aren't changing the system, just the way the page looks at the moment. Refreshing the screen would revert it.

I imported the reports bundle yesterday...first attempt at using customized reports. I found a discrepancy between the above mentioned report and a query run from the Incident Management page. Incident Management page reports 251 incidents in a given date range...the same date range on the custom report displays 412 incidents. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

I seem to be unable to run any of the state CALPADS extract files while I have customization activated. Once I turn it off...no problem.
Is this a known issue?

We had the same issue in Tennessee with our extracts. If we ran the extracts with CPM turned on we got the header and trailer record with no data in between. On a test server I was able to do this with no custom pages just turning on customization.

It has now been resolved.

Hi -

I'm using the EPP on PS 7.6...here's my problem. I opened up Course Request this weekend for 6th & 7th at my middle school. We only want our students/parents to make requests through the parent portal. Is there a way to remove the submit button on the course request page for just the student's portal? Currently, I have the student access turned off to force parents to use the parent portal.
Thanks,
Maggi

We just downloaded and installed the most recent version of the Custom Reports Bundle 3.4.4. We recently upgraded to PowerSchool version 7.7.1.1.169887

We still cannot run any of our Custom SQL reports. They all error out. Supposedly this version of the Custom reports Bundle should have a fix for this issue. Help!

I upgraded to PS7.7.1.1 on 5/17/13 also. I submit an sql report and get the text of the sql... no data is pulled. Thank you!!!

Hi, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the CRB and all of the work that goes into keeping it updated and maintained... THANK YOU!! I have version 3.4.4 and I've recently tried to add some custom reports shared on exchange (SSO reports by Michael Moore, and Attendance Listing by Manjit Basra) and both require some crm_XXXX files in the admin\reports directory. I don't have those and looked back at the older version zip files and still don't see them. I do have a folder, c_reportmanager with some crm_XXX files, but not the ones that are needed. Is there something else I need to do to add these files so the exchange customizations will work? Thanks for your help. ...Susan

I would like to thank you for sharing the custom reports bundle with us. We are very happy with the reports.

I'm on Version 7.7.0 and I noticed after I installed the package, some of my student pages were also customized, such as the modify schedule screen and our registrars aren't able to drop students from classes unless I disable customization. Is there any way I can restore just the modify schedule or the dropselectedclasses page so that I don't have to keep disabling customization every time the registrars want to drop classes? If so, can you please guide me in the right direction? What are the file names that I need to restore? I hope I have a good backup for those pages. :)

Thanks again for all you do! You're amazing!

I look forward to your response.

We upgraded to the most recent version of PS as well as downloaded and installed the newest Custom Reports Bundle. When we attempt to run them they to not produce any results. Just the headers with no data. We hope to have this fixed soon, we have just recently began using the SQL reports.

We have have two app nodes with an image server. If I don't use the image server and just let the app nodes provide the images the custom reports tabs display correctly. If I use the image server the tabs don't display. What and where do I need to add to the image server to make the custom reports tab display?

Thanks

Where do I change the calendar date? The report only goes up to May.

Is it possible to use this field in a sql query. I am trying to get the Final Grade Setup to only list sections where the number of students is > 0.

I tried something like this, but it did not work:

FROM Courses crs
INNER JOIN Sections sec
ON crs.Course_Number = sec.Course_Number AND
sec.ExcludeFromStoredGrades = 0 AND sec.No_of_students>0

I have the enhanced parent portal and wondering how to utilize the demographic page to allow parents to enter in new information. Is there something we need to do to allow this to work? When I unclick on the button for it to appear, it does not appear in the portal.

I am not using Custom Page Management, still using Custom Web Root.

I added a bunch of reports (that is, HTML pages) to the ..\custom\web_root\admin\reports\fees. I saw the first one in the list of reports on the Fees tab, but I can't get the others to appear. Each one has a unique title and description within the file and has a unique name as well, obviously.

What's the trick for adding reports to the Custom Report Bundle? I added them all at the same time to my test server and they all appear. What did I fail to do on my production server? The pages work great when I manually key in the URL, they just don't appear on the tab.

I tried resubmitting the Customization page and rebuilding the custom page links. No luck.

When running this report, current selection does not work. Individual and All students will work.

Just updated to PS 7.8. After update the tab text is white, any ideas how I can fix this?

I've found some settings that make the tabs show as intended again. They are all in 1 file so I'm deciding if that file should be uploaded by itself or if a full release is necessary.

For those more adventurous:
File: /images/css/theme/dark-hive/jquery-ui.custom.css
Lines to change:
69:
.ui-state-default, .ui-widget-content .ui-state-default, .ui-widget-header .ui-state-default { border: 1px solid #444444; background: #222222 url(images/ui-bg_highlight-soft_35_222222_1x100.png) 50% 50% repeat-x; font-weight: normal; color: #eeeeee; }

Add !important to border, background and color. Should look like the code below (if it shows up)

69:
.ui-state-default, .ui-widget-content .ui-state-default, .ui-widget-header .ui-state-default { border: 1px solid #444444 !important; background: #222222 url(images/ui-bg_highlight-soft_35_222222_1x100.png) 50% 50% repeat-x !important; font-weight: normal; color: #eeeeee !important; }

I think that's all I changed. I played with it a bit until it worked but I think thats all it needed.

Jason,

The fixes for jquery-ui.custom.css don't seem to impact the copy, csv, excel, pdf, print buttons, which I think is what people are complaining about. The problem seems to be coming from the screen.css file which I believe is PS controlled css. The a.button class is being called to define the font color and background linear gradient. I may be wrong though - it is just what I am seeing from the css inspector.

Hope this helps
Robert

Robert,

Yes, I'm still working on a bunch of stuff that was visually altered in 7.8. I did notice them but nothing I've tried so far has gotten it the way I wanted it so I haven't put out an official solution to those buttons.

But the tabs in the custom reports area being white and unreadable was a bigger issue. You can still tell what the print/pdf/etc buttons are, just not as nicely as they were before.
