Crystal Reports

Hello everyone,

Not sure how many people would be interested in Crystal Reports. I manage to write my own Crystal Report portal which is integrated with Custom Report bundle, as an additional tab.
The project is written in ASPX and requires windows IIS server to be activated on port 8080 (or other of your choice).

The portal will allow you to upload reports written in crystal reports and run them through PowerSchool admin portal.

Hi,
I am interested in creating some reports with sub report data sections from other assessment databases. Are you using additional database sources with your Crystal Reports?

Hi,
I sometimes use additional databases, cause Crystal reports can connect to almost all databases out there... Normally, I create a backup of the current PowerSchool, use the backup on test server, and modify it with additional views/tables for reporting. Just need to know which tables to use to get the assessments. In crystal, sometimes, you don't even need use additional databases, cause it can join tables visually, and see what data you get out of them.

I like the idea. Do you need to have crystal reports server or can a single user license work with your customization? At my old district we didn't have server, we had several copies of the user license though.

I am interested in the Crystal Reports portal, are you going to share this project/code with us, pretty please=)

Has there been any movement on this? Our district currently uses Crystal Reports heavily on the side, but would like to integrate it within the PS Admin Portal.

I've been hounding the Pearson folks for years about replacing their ReportWorks garbage with a Crystal SDK. Using the SDK, it can be integrated into PowerSchool. When owned by Seagate, CR also had an entire security matrix for publishing to folders that were accessible by pre-defined security groups; don't know if that "enterprise" version is around any more but I'd LOVE to take this on!

Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress!!
Randy.

Has there been any progress in this direction?
Thanks, Margaret
