Comments

When I run the Course Recommendations Report by Department, it does not show me all recommendations for all classes within that department. However, when I list All Departments and choose the classes one by one from the Course list, it shows recommendations for the courses which did not appear in the department listing.

Do you have the correct department assigned to each course in your course setup?

We've been running this report successfully for a while now, but just today we noticed that sorting by course sometimes does not give us the correct number of requests. For example, we have 30 requests for AP Calculus AB, but if I use the drop down in the report to show AP Calculus AB, the report says that there are 0 requests. If I choose another course, sometimes I get the correct number and sometimes it shows 0. Any ideas on why this is?

Confirm that you have installed and enabled PSCB - Base Resources 2.3

Run the PSCB PowerScheduler - Course List report and confirm that the Terms Offered data has been entered correctly for all courses.

Once you commit your schedule is there a report that you know of that we can get this same information on the live side?

Hi,
I am working on getting in all the post/prerequis. into the Course_Relationship table so that it will run in the Course Relationship report. When I run the PSCB report, it does not match what I am pulling out of the course_relationship table. Does this data live in a different table? If so which one is it pulling from so I can accurately update the data. Thank you!

The report lists the course relationships entered into the active PowerScheduler build. This information in stored in the ScheduleCourseRelationships (78) table.

THANK YOU! I just imported a few updated relationships, I see them in the DDE, but they are not pulling into that relationship report. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi,
There is a field we use often because we need students to choose their alternative course. So if they want to take engineering, but it is not offered the period they are free, we have them select another course, so Robotics, that would be the alternative choice for a science credit. I do not currently see a report that could pull that. Is there a way we can get a report that would pull "AlternateCourseName1" that lives in the schedulerequests Table on to one of these reports? OR for the "Student Request Tally" Report can we have a report that provides the details? We dont need to total tallied but the actual detail. Thanks!

Is there a way to include admin recommendations on the course recommendations report?

Not with the current reports included in this reports bundle.

Great set of reports. Just wanted to give you a heads up that the counts may not pull all data. Our course numbers are hs1234 (lower case school identifier, 4 digit course number identifier). Summary from kb65514 (2012!) follows:
SUMMARY
Course Numbers containing Lower Case alpha characters, are changed to Upper Case alpha values upon Submitting Course Request via Request Management > Modify Future Request, and through the Public Portal > Class Registration.

The difference can be significant:
PE_Health hs0521 Group Games 20-21 187 (from Bundle)
HS0521 Group Games 407 (built-in)

This scenario has been a Powerschool issue for a long time. The net result is that the course number in the courses table is out of sync with the course number assigned to the student requests. (Lower case / Upper case)

PowerSchool has always recommended that lower case letters not be used when creating courses/course numbers. The solution I have implemented with numerous school districts is to change all course numbers to use upper case letters only.

Yeah, it's annoying. Just before running tallies and diving into the build process, I lock out users from requesting, export all requests, backup, delete them in PS, fix case in Excel and Import with correct case. We implemented back in 2007; revised our course numbering then. Would have gone with uppercase, had we known. It wasn't until we opened on-line requesting that we were impacted.

When I installed the 2.2 update, the link for the reports (in Powerscheduler) moved from the bottom of my Navigation bar to the top. Is there something I missed? I would like it to stay on the bottom under Tools so my users won't be confused. How do I install it to make sure it appears in the same place?

The link was moved to the top of the left navigation menu based on numerous enhancement requests from our user group. The top location is easier to access, instead constantly scrolling to the bottom of the menu to see the PSCB Reports link.

If you want to position the link at the bottom, you will need to use CPM to change the coding used for the file:

menu.CustomContent_PSCB.leftnav.footer.txt

Replace the following script coding:

//Get the contents of the script above, then create a new jQuery object from the inner HTML.
var verTemplate = $j($j('#version-template').html());

//Only jQuery objects have the insertAfter, which is why we surrounded the code above in a second $j().
$j("[href^='/admin/PowerSchedule/reports/home.html']").parent().before(verTemplate);

with:

//Get the contents of the script above, then create a new jQuery object from the inner HTML.
var verTemplate = $j($j('#version-template').html());

//Only jQuery objects have the insertAfter, which is why we surrounded the code above in a second $j().
$j("[href^='/admin/PowerSchedule/reports/home.html']").parent().after(verTemplate);

Thank you Rob. We thought that placing at the top was by request, that makes sense.

I'm looking for the student request letters that were in CRB - Schedule. Have they been moved to PSCB or do I still need to use CRB?

If the answer is they are only found in CRB, is there a way to remove the extra space from the top of the first student page when the letters are run to pdf? I only know enough about CPM to manage to add the student number and remove the address. I don't know what line is creating the extra line. Due the extra line on the first student only SchoolMessenger is unable to create a template for document delivery.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Jill,

PSCB has no plans at this time to update the CRB Student Course Request Letter. I will add this request to the PSCB future projects list.

We currently have an alternative option you can consider. The PSCB - Customization (Student Requests Future Year) plugin is student custom page that the lists the student requests and recommendation for the future year. The page can be Mass Printed for a selected group of students if you have the AET Mass Print Student Screen 3.3 plugin installed.

Thanks for the quick response! I think this will fit our needs well. We used the
PSCB Scheduling FY report that you mentioned last year and downloaded it to excel and broke it into groups. This is a better solution.

Hi, Can we add department to the Course Requests by Student or Course Report? Thank you!

Hi, We are pulling all of our course request for this year to clean up the file and courses where we added the request in the additional request space do not pull into the report.

The report is called Course Requests by Student or Course. So for some students its missing 1 or 1.5 credits from all of their requests.

Can you please advise?

We completed additional testing and could not duplicate the issue you described on any of our test servers. You will need to verify your PowerScheduler settings to determine the cause.

Hi, we are running the Custom Scheduling Reports (PSCB) Student Non Scheduled Periods, and it is not flagging students who are missing periods during first semester, if they have a second semester period filled in. We would want to be flagged if the first semester was not able to be scheduled. It would leave a space in their schedule.
Thanks!

A term(s) select option will be included in the next release of the report.

Hi, When we run this, it seems as if the ability to select between A and B does not actually work. If you select an A day, it will still only should if both A and B days are available. Can we add this on as something to work on? Thanks !

Is there a report available for the future scheduling side that looks like the "Teacher Free Report" on the live side?

Thanks

Hi,
Just went to run this report and it is pulling every single years worth of data so takes a very long time to actually run. Can we only pull the current scheduling year? Thanks!

Can we add a column that would show the target sections #s from the previous year? Our departments like to compare year over year when reviewing all these numbers. I tried adding it in myself, but its pulling just the max target section # from that year, I cant get it to connect directly to the course.

THANKS!

Thanks for your request. Not sure if this is possible, but PSCB will not be adding this to the enhancement list.

Yea, its not working, but I seem to be really close. I just cant get it to associate with correct course on the row.
