If you are using custom pages from Pro, 5.1 or 5.2 you will see a red x because the old images are no longer included. This zip file contains the old 5.2 logo files so you will at least see the PowerSchool logo, although it will be the old green ones. This should help you identify which pages you need to update to include the new logo html code. Install the files in the zip to \custom\web_root\images and if you are using a image server copy the files to the image server too. | Remote-Desktop/Screen-sharing v0.5b | 04-16-2009 | Kevin Heneveld Fairbanks School District | Y | Y | Y | When trying to help users over the phone it is often helpful to be able to see and control their screens. The problem is this often requires software to be installed on the client's computers, administrative rights, special passwords, etc. There are often additional problems and hassles dealing with multiple platforms and operating systems - for instance, remote desktop on windows will blank the screen of the remote user - not very helpful to see what they're doing or show them what you're doing :-( There are commercial packages out there that address this but they are usually restrictive, expensive and often require that you connect outside to their servers. I got tired of that and decided to develop my own version... Simply drop these three files onto a tomcat server (like your WGB server) and provide a link on any page(s) to either the client or admin applets. Using the power of java webstart a small (28k) java program is launched that handles everything for you. Simple, cross-platform screen-sharing that requires no special software, knowlege access privileges on either the client or the administrator's computers. | |
