Student Attendance RE Reports

Two reporting engine reports that use to be on sisresources.com that show student attendance detail information. Be sure to read the readme file for important information about the reports.

The reports are variations of a student attendance detail report created by Bob McGregor. They can be run for the entire student body or just the current selection, however, if either number surpasses 999 then the report will be blank due to a limitation in the reporting engine. Although the students will appear with a small separation on the screen when viewing the output, they will print one per page when the output is printed.

Both reports will show attendance comments along with basic attendance information. See the screenshots for the differences in the output of the reports.

new to me...

I took a look at your report and it has the information which I need... but also would need to get the "time in" "time out" and "time comment" on the report also. Is there a way you could give me a quick overview on how to add those items? (Sorry, I know it is a lot to ask)

RE: new to me...

Lauren,

There are a few places you'll need to modify in the report. The pdf at the following is a guideline of what you'll need to change in general in the report - http://www.powerdatasolutions.org/content/sql-based-reporting-engine-exp... Basically the first thing you'll need to do is modify the sql to pull the data you want and then modify the report to print that information as well.

I have a custom page that shows up on the custom student screens area that shows the information you're requesting. I'll post it and you could use it's sql as a guide. Or if you just need to print the information for a student you could probably even just print it.

(edited to add: the custom page has been uploaded to http://www.powerdatasolutions.org/content/daily-attendance-lists)

Thanks!

I spent all day yesterday trying to get the Detail report on my own...finally came here and right there it is! Thanks! This is a life saver!

Detail report by student

The report is running great, but comments are not printing. What do I check to troubleshoot this issue.

RE: Detail report by student

Are they entering comments with the actual attendance or via log entries? The reason I ask is because I've seen some schools use log entries to record comments and these reports don't look at log entries but rather just at the attendance table for comments.

If they don't use log entries can you pull up the attendance records for one of the students on the report and verify comments are in the records. You can use DDE to search the attendance table by studentid and then view the records.

I have run an export from DDE to verify that comments have been entered in the attendance comment field. And there are comments in this field. But they are not printing on the report. We use meeting attendance at all our schools and I wondered if the comment field is only associated wtih daily attendance. We have both modes available at all of our schools.

RE: Attendance Detail report

It shouldn't matter on the type of attendance as basically it just pulls the information out of the attendance table. Have you tried both reports in the download? Just wondering if it's doing it on both or just one of them.

The comments are printing on both reports. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong to begin with...any way...thanks very much for these reports.

Is the detail report for Daily Attendance Only?

I'm not getting any results for the detail report but I am for the list report. We are using meeting attendance for grades K-12.

RE: Is the detail report for Daily Attendance Only?

Both should work for either meeting or daily. Did you change the vAttendanceType variable mentioned in the readme to fit your situation? The other thing is make sure the year's are entered in full when running the report.
