Seating Charts for Premier. Based on Flash. In use at Valley and working well. Not gradebook dependent, can be used by any PowerTeacher user. Thanks to FusionCharts.com for the flash object and their support of the PowerSchool user community. This is an advanced customization and relies on your ability to manipulate the PhotoFlag field in PowerSchool. Please read the documentation.

Version 1.1.0 adds a "shuffle" option.
Version 1.2.0 adds ability to view in PowerSub.
Version 2.0 is converted for Oracle.

My teachers would love to use this, but I do not know how to "install" this since we are a hosted school. Thanks for your patience with a newbie! Vicky Carlson

Great seating chart however when we right click within the chart to try and print it some of the the names are cut off. When looking at the screen everything looks fine pictures and names are clear. We have tried a few version of Java and IE and Mozilla but no luck.

Thank you for your hard work on providing seating charts for our teachers. We just upgraded to Oracle on our Macs and the latest version of seating charts work like a charm. I made a set of instructions for our staff and also created a video tutorial for them to follow. I also installed the SUBS version which I had not done before - this is a great added bonus for our substitutes. Should be easy peasy!Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Smaller Pictures

Submitted by bdmorgan on Thu, 09/11/2008 - 2:38pm

I have a teacher who needs to use smaller pictures because of the layout of his classroom. He clicks "Smaller Pictures" and then saves. However, when he goes back to that class, the pictures are the larger ones. Should this happen?

For may layout (and eye sight) I prefer the larger pictures! I think Seating Charts 2.0 is fantastic and can't wait for the incorporation of attendance taking.

Thanks,

Dan

The page defaults to the larger pictures version. Every time he leaves the screen it will do that again unfortunately. Perhaps a future version can include something that remembers the user's last setting but for right now that is how the customization works.

I know... I added the smaller pictures option after a request from a teacher and never spent time making the setting "stick". Teacher needs to click "Smaller pictures" each time going in, but layout is preserved. I'll think about it, but when I made this customization a year ago, I had every hope that it was a "band aid" until PS came out with their own that would include attendance taking. :-)

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and making life easier for the rest of us. I am truly grateful.
I have used a number of your customized pages. I have a number of teachers begging for the seating charts. I just tried uploading the pages today to our server. I have the pages and links in the right places. I can see the 2 chairs, the seating chart page, but I can't get the pictures of the students to show. I saw that the photoflag needed a 1 in the field, so I fixed that. I've re-read the directions a number of times. Could you give me any insight as to why the fusion charts do not seem to work? All I see are the words "FusionCharts." in a small square and that is it.
Thanks for your help,

Jason,
I know you are really busy but I can not get this seating chart to work. I tried putting it on our test server in data/custom/web_root but it does not show in PTG. Do I have to do something else to make it show up. Even though we have been on PS forever I really do not do much customization. This is all new to me. Any help you could share would be great! Thanks.

The seating chart does not

Submitted by brian_andle on Fri, 09/05/2008 - 11:50am

The seating chart does not actually show up in the Gradebook, it becomes part of the PowerTeacher Website and the Substitute Portal. After copying the files into your custom folder you should see a pair of chairs next to each other when Teachers logon to take attendance. Clicking on the chairs will bring up the seating chart.

I am still only seeing one chair. I put the folder in Premier/data/custom/webroot is that right? Sorry to be so dumb, but like I said this is all new to me with customizations. Thanks for your help.

There should be a customized page in the custom/webroot/teachers/ folder called home.html. Did you move that in there?

I still can not get it to work. I feel so dumb as it surely can not be that hard to get it going! So I have this right. I downloaded the file then I copied it to D:/premier/data/custom/web_root is where I put the file right? I made sure cutomization is enabled in PS. Do I have to put it in one of the files in web_root? Do I have to have PS shutdown while doing this? Sorry to be such a pain.

Verify Column Has Broken Icons

Submitted by joelande on Tue, 09/02/2008 - 2:26pm

After installing the seating chart solution on my server today (5.2.0-single server install), there is a "Verify" column, which has a missing icon indicator, and which links to a page which returns a 404 (page missing) error.

What is that supposed to do?

Should I just remove the code for that column from the page?

It did not work to remove the code for Verify for Seating 2.0

It did not work to take out A+.The seating chart I saved last night at the MS is there with pictures. Howevr the HS is now drawing a blank for seating.

My modification appeared to work last night, but this morning. It is really hay wire.
Would you include the non verify into the seating ZIP Please. thank you.

Jacqie
seating reworked to get the A+ out.
balmed overnightlies.

BUT - Found More2.html dated 6/8/2008 in my student pages - removed that. this is why my My Oracle now had the Demographic Modify and the Demographic page back in students information frame on left, on tbe test server. So something I tested I think hiccupped. I have a Province/State MA for state reports and a State Report. Now gone taking hte more2.html out of custom student pages.
????

Any ideas on what I might have clipped before I bring my seating over the live server...will be appreciated. I am going hunting to find a means to remove the VERIFY from Seating 2.0 Oracle. Thanks for everything. You are wonderful friends and soulful minds to all of us.

re: Verify Column Has Broken Icons

Submitted by jtreadwell on Tue, 09/02/2008 - 9:47pm

The problem isn't with the seating chart, it's that the verification pages haven't been installed/updated for 5.2. That Icon is part of the verification package. There should be 2 different versions of the teachers/home.html page to install, one of which is for users who are also using the verification package. Once the final issues with the verification pages are resolved that will be posted and if you install that you will not get the 404 error and the image will be there.

Just installed the seating chart - teachers and subs will love it. I do not see the two different home.html. The only one I see adds the verification column. Is there some place else I can look to get the home.html without this verification column? Can someone walk me through editing it (taking it out) myself?

This was my issue too...Seeing Verify Icon 404 error - Seating P

I will look for the other version. Is the other version, in the seating chart zip? Or is it another version of the seating chart?
The seating chart is working great on my Test Server. Now I understand that unless I have the future working package, since I did have it on my server, I need to wait. I can procede and not get the A+ Verify Icon.

Ok.. I will experiment.

Thanks

This is really really nice. I do, however, have a question. Is there a seating chart out there that we can take attendance with like we did in PowerGrade? i know that my teachers are completely spoiled by that feature and would love to see it in powerteacher. Thanks, Lori M.
