This remote desktop clent/server package is designed to be a simple,
no-frills way to share a screen with someone else. The intent was to
build a small, fast, cross-platform screen-sharing program that would
not require any administrative privileges, local software, or special
knowledge by the users. This small, 28k program is a java applet that
uses java web-start technology for both the client and admin parts.
There are three files involved:
remotedesktop-client.jnlp
This file is for sharing your screen with others. It attempts
to auto-detect your IP address and displays it to you so that
you can give it to support (or whomever is wanting to see your
screen). There is a button to start and stop sharing as well
as a field that can change the default port used if desired.
This will usually be used by your clients so you can see their
screen and help them.
remotedesktop-admin.jnlp
This file allows someone to connect to and interact with the
screen of the user that has enabled sharing with the client
applet. It provide a field where you can type in an IP add-
ress and optional port number as given to you by the sharer.
RemoteDesktop.jar
This is a small (~28k) file that is auto-downloaded and executed
by the client when the above applet links are clicked. It
contains both the client and server software.
To use this with PowerSchool simply drop these three files into your
tomcat/webapps/ROOT/ folder. You will then need to edit the two "jnlp"
files with a text editor. The only thing that *needs* to be changed is
the codebase tag to point to your tomcat server address. Of course you
will probably want to change the values in the
reflect your setup.

Awesome
This is absolutely great. I love it. Now to add the ability to display MY screen (as a tech) to a remote user for demo purposes. That would be greater...
Wonderful job.
BTW, I am very curious as to how this was written... in Java, no less... wonderful job...
