Once set the report will show all sections that haven’t had in update in X days. This setting is stored as a school preference and only needs to be set once per school.

Putting the link on the home page
Hi,
I've successfully gotten the lastgbupdate file in my admin/reports/grading folder, but am now trying to put the link to access it on the left navigation of the home page under 'ReportWorks'. I've updated the wildcard (admin_nav_menu_left.txt) with the link, and have gone to System > Special Operations and run 'Rebuild Custom Page Links', but it's still not showing up. Am I missing something? I've also tried to simply add it to the 'home' page on the custom web_root, to no avail.
Any assistance is appreciated :-)
Thanks!
Debbie

That Special Op rebuilds Teacher Drop Down lists and stuff. For WildCard updates click Submit on PS->System-System Admin->Customization after that it will appear.
Putting the link on the home page
It still didn't work Brian... I'm guessing there's something else I'm missing. Any ideas?
Did you make the wildcard
Did you make the wildcard change on the custom side or the resource side. The resource side can be overwritten by the nightly update.
WildCard
Okay, got it going, but now when I click on the link, then put in a number of days and Submit, I get a 404 error. I noticed that when I look at the address, it's adding 'lastgbupdate.html' again:
http://10.1.250.35/admin/reports/grading/lastgbupdate.html/lastgbupdate....
Then when I click on the link again, it displays the data I requested when I submitted. I installed v1.35, but am not seeing where this has been an issue.
Thanks,
Debbie
Re: Wildcard
What is the link that you are using in the wilcard?
WildCard
a href="/admin/reports/grading/lastgbupdate.html/">Last GB Update
I took out the (< and ) because it wasn't posting right.
Thanks again!

Aha! I took out the / after the html and it's now working... Go figure.
Removing Periods
I'd love to add a little code in here that removes certain periods, for example, we have a HR period for homeroom, so they show up on the report. It would be a little cleaner if we could remove those.
Also would be nice if we could select a specific teacher or all teachers so we can narrow things down a bit when necessary.
Love the report, though. Teachers don't. :(

ASP hosted—where do I put this report?
This is probably a dumb question, but being a new Powerschool user and hosted by Powerschool . . . I can't just run into the server room and drag to the admin/reports/grading folder.
Do I tell Powerschool where to upload this report or do they know?
Also do I make a link from another page to this report? Or will it show up in the reports listing?
Many thanks for sharing all this experience for others.

New Custom Management
I'm not hosted, but talking to a few districts who are, you may want to turn on (or have your admin turn on) Custom Page Management. You'll need access to PowerSchool Administrator, but it will allow you to take over customization of your pages for yourself. You can create a new page, copy the code from a page you've created and paste it in or update an existing page. You can find documentation here: https://powersource.pearsonschoolsystems.com/d/custom_web_page_managemen...

Did you get a response to this question. I have had the same question for a while.
Re: ASP hosted
There are instructions included inside the zip on where and how to link to the custom page.
Last Gradebook Report - Data Not Displaying
We download the report and loaded on our test server. When we run the report, the number of sections not updated is displaying but the detail data is not displaying on the screen.
Please advise.

Last Gradebook Update
Hi Brian,
Our district used this report before we moved to an oracle server. It hasn't worked since we moved in 2008. When we run the report we get dates back to 2007-2008.
In DDA>Pref(9)>gradesnotupdatedin-S51, I filled out the fields SchoolID, Value, YearID, but it didn't help. I also changed ~(Section_Number;t), that didn't help either.
Our high school is desperate for this report. If you have any further suggestions please let me know.

Re: Last Gradebook Update
I would delete the pref, the yearid and schoolid are not needed. Did you install the newest version? I haven't had nor heard of any issues in quite some time. If you used it in sybase the sql all changed and you will need to install the new version.

no grades entered
The teachers who have never entered any grades are not showing up on the report. Is there something I need to set up for this to show?
Last Gradebook update
Will this customization work with PS 6.0 and PT Gradebook?
Thanks,

Re: Last Gradebook update
Yes, this will work with 6.0.

Outstanding...
It works for all schools now... Thanks Brian.
Duplicate Entries
Is anyone else seeing duplicate entries in the list? The entries have different dates of the last update 2/17 and 2/19 for the same course and section. Anyone have any ideas?
Re: Duplicate Entries
I suspect you had a student(s) transfer out of the class, so it is showing that 1 or more students were last updated on 2/17 and the rest were updated 2/19.
Brian Andle
Brian, Unfortunately, that's
Brian,
Unfortunately, that's not the case. I don't have any students that have transferred in/out of my course. I do have a special student that is exempt from all assignments. I am seeing it with the kids where we have overwritten a grade. Some teachers are coming up 4 times in the list for the same section
What I did to get rid of the duplicates is to remove LastGradeUpdate, Sections_DCID, and Teachers_DCID. I know that I don't see a specific date but that is something we can live with.
Not working for elementary/middle for me, too
Brian,
This report works fine for me at the high school, but in my k-8 school, where I have stored grades, it gives me the count, but doesn't show the list.
Here's the strange part, I ran the SQL code in SQLDeveloper, hardcoding the school, and it shows the list fine there.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Re: Not working for elementary/middle for me, too
I have heard this a couple of times, and to be honest I'm not really sure what is causing it.
You will also get a "Fail to convert to internal representation" on the server. Check for special characters in the Teacher Name, Course name and Course Number, look for characters like #,%,- and *. Basiclly the ones that you can't use to name a file.

Solution Found
Brian,
I kept asking myself what was different at my other schools compared to my high school. That, and your comment about the server message connected when I was looking at your code. The SQL works just fine, it's the display that was failing.
A lot of elementary schools use alpha characters in section numbers (teacher name, A, B, etc.) and the display part of your code defines section_number as 'l' so it throws the conversion error. I changed that 'l' to a 't' and it worked for me. Not sure what other effects that might have on the page, but for now, I'm happy.
Thanks again for this page, my academic staffs love it. Makes it easy to get on teachers about keeping up to date.
Steve Deibert
Thanks for the Solution
Adding the t helped mine to show up as well. Thanks so much!!!!!This is a great customization
Ahh much better.
Thank you Steve and Brian!
For other html challenged folks like myself this is the line in question w/ the change made:

Brian and Steve,
This may not help anyone else, but I need to say thank you to both of you. The report is very helpful and I was having the same problems in my grade school. So thank you both, the work you do and share is very appreciated.

Works for the high school.
I store for elementary and middle, too. You stated it only reports on classes that are stored. Is there something else I should check to make sure is entered on the courses or sections pages? I don't have the classes being exempt or excluded.

Re: Works for the high school.
The page uses a preference to determine how many days should be looked at. In your pref table you should see a preference named gradesnotupdatedin-S followed by your school number. So on mine its gradesnotupdatedin-S1605111, please check that the preference is there and there there is a number in the value field for all your schools.

Re: Works for the high school.
They all had a value, for every school. I even entered a different number from the table and that did not help. Should the Schoolid also show in the schoolid column?
Name Schoolid Userid Value Yearid
gradesnotupdatedin-S120 0 0 10 0
gradesnotupdatedin-S360 0 0 10 0
gradesnotupdatedin-S220 0 0 10 0
gradesnotupdatedin-S260 0 0 10 0
gradesnotupdatedin-S340 0 0 10 0

I'm not having any luck with running this report for the elementary and middle schools. But this works great at the high school. I am not really sure why. Could you tell me if I need to do anything differently?
Thanks for all you do!

Re: Works for the high school.
Do you store grades for the elementary and middle? The report only shows classes/sections that are stored. Other then that it should work regardless.

Sorting by teacher name
Is it possible to sort the list by teacher name? I noticed that the column headings are highlighted in blue so I clicked on teacher and I got a 404 Error.

Re: Sorting by teacher name
Do you have the report in \admin\reports\grading? The page will only work correctly from this location.

Thanks. That worked. I was missing the grading folder.
Sections not being displayed
Thanks for the report but it doesn't seem to be displaying the sections. The count seems to work. I'm running Premier 5.2.x on a Mac OS X.4.11.
Re: Sections not being displayed
Does it work at any of your schools? If possible could you e-mail me a screen shot of the error on the server if there is one? You can e-mail it to bandle@willingtonct.org

Last Gradebook Update File
I just downloaded and ran the Last Gradebook Update file. I like the 0/0/0 which I assume means the no action (or setup) has taken place. My list looks correct with the exception of one teacher's section. It indicates a 0/0/0 but yet when I look at her students, grades are listed. Am I missing a tag somewhere in my set-up?
Thanks

Last Gradebook Update File
You are correct 0/0/0 indicates that the teacher has not entered any assignments or grades. I bet the section is listed twice, this can happen when a student is added to the class after the last update to the gradebook. So that student ends up with 0/0/0 while the rest of the class has grades. I plan on working on a updated version that will compensate for this.
Thank you for your feedback,

Last Gradebook update date
Is there a way to manually clear the 00/00/00? I have several others that are also listed twice with other dates as well. I would like to clear them somehow, it is confusing the administration.
