When creating new staff in PowerSchool you are required to assign an ID number. The included replacement page will auto assign a number based ID. The page uses SQL to determine what the next valid id number should be.

Version History:
V 1.0 (04/6/2009)
• Initial release

V 1.0 1(04/30/2009)
• Fixed issue where on Submitting a new teacher, a “No ID number assigned” error would occur

What a great add on. This is one of those things you wonder why Pearson didn't do this.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone tried this customization on 6.0 and knows if it works or not?
Thank you,
Nancy

The page should work fine with PS 6.

I tried using this screen but its not auto populating the ID field does it do this after you click submit or is it supposed to auto populate the field as soon as you click on New Staff entry

As soon as you go to the New Staff Entery page it should be auto populated. Is there a error on the server?

This little page is great! Thanks for it. It populates the field perfectly, but when I hit "submit," I get the error "You did not enter an ID for the faculty member." There are no errors on the server. We're running an Oracle db instead of SQL. Do you have any ideas?

I love the page but I get the same error as Jaclyn. Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks in advance,

This is something that Pearson should have taken care of a long time ago. Every once in a while you run into something in PoowerSchool that just leaves me wondering if I made the right decision to invest in the product. Until now I would have to deal with the following awkward conversation.

Principal: Guy, can you please set up an account for our new math teacher?

Me: Sure, let me switch to the district office here.

Principal: but she's a high school teacher?!?

Me: yeah, I know I just need to set up a list report so I can find the next available staff ID.

Principal: Will this take long?

Me: naa, just let me set up the sort options here and ahh here we go. hmm help me find the largest number in this list.

Principal: I thought you sorted them.

Me: Yeah I did, but it doesn't exactly put them in perfect order. Ah here it is. now we just need to switch back to your school and add your new teacher.

Principal: so we are almost done then?

Me: yep, I am just finishing up the user details. There! ok what was that last ID again?

Principal: ...

Me: @#$% Just give me the user's password. I don't need to take anymore of your time. I'll start over and let you know when its all set.

Principal: Should I submit a work order?

Thanks Brian, your a life saver.
